John 8:12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."
Isaiah 50:10-11 Who among you fears the LORD and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God. But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires. This is the reward you will receive from me: You will soon fall down in great torment.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
2 Samuel 22:29 O LORD, you are my lamp. The LORD lights up my darkness.
Application
Be sure that I remain in close fellowship with Jesus as I walk the narrow path of life- especially these unknown trails. I love adventure, and I am so prone to going off on my own (Isaiah 53:6 ...All we like sheep have gone astray...) to explore! Even if I do that, I must be sure that I am stepping in the footsteps that Jesus has made for me and not trying [striving, as I tend to do] to do something on my own.
Straight up- I want to be intentional about how I move forward with this nonprofit that God has put on my heart. OH, SEEEEE, THERE'S the problem. God did NOT put a "nonprofit" on my heart. CERTAINLY NOT. God revealed some GAPS to me. He revealed His heart to me and opened my eyes to see what He sees (a little bit) and He has equipped me to respond to what He's shown me. That's it.
He showed me a need.
He equipped me to respond.
I need to respond to the need, not to the "business expectations" surrounding the need. I took what was God's and humanized it- added objectives and organizational infrastructures, etc. That's NOT what God wants. God wants me to LOVE people and RESPOND to them in whatever ways I can. The rest of it is just a distraction. If it gets to the point where it is more distracting NOT to have an infrastructure, THEN I will deal with THAT.
Yes.
God, you are SO GOOD!
Bunny Trail Lesson of the Blog
We had some serious snow last weekend (not a regular occurrence here in Raleigh, North Carolina) and though I was raised in the North and grew up with the snow, I was reminded once again of how difficult it is to walk through. Treading through a foot of snow definitely slows you down and takes much more energy than usual (you have to lift your leg up higher and push down harder and then drag your foot back up through the snow hole you just made). So as I was running around in the yard with friends and family, I figured out that it took much less energy and was much more pleasant to step in someone else's footsteps. Someone else had already done the hard work of moving the snow out of the way, I just had to follow their path! This reminds me of the path that Jesus laid out for me. He has already done the hard part- He has cleared the way....He laid out a path.... He LIGHTS the path....and I just need to walk in His footsteps.
