You could build a house that is even better than the one you have now. I know that seems impossible, but I bet you could have a bedroom for each kid and you could still put in another pool.
I don’t know if it would be better to talk on the phone or zoom about this with the parents to broach the subject. I’d love to do it together (with you). But I also am not as clear with my words when I speak out loud. Since I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, I wanted to put something on “paper” so this is a start.
Also, I talked to Page about it and she didn’t outright say NEVER, but for sure a “not right now” and that she needs to be near a city…. but this angle of land with 5 homesites that each kid can build on if/when they feel like it to whatever extent they want to, might be a good one. Anyway… here’s what I just wrote. Let me know your thoughts, additions, subtractions.
For me, I’m really focusing on the implications of leaving a legacy and setting their generations up for success. The “family farm” is a cozy staple that kids can always come back to. I’m also really hoping for the hard work which is required to be character building for the kids to set them apart from the masses today who are turning out to be entitled and lazy and waiting for someone else to do the work for them. This the the plan… make them weak and dependent on the government so they willfully allow themselves to be enslaved and are whisked away into the darkness. It’s OUR choices as parents and this generation, that will set them on a path for freedom and autonomy. You have already made great strides in pulling them out of the false “education” system and teaching them to find joy in learning and listening to their own hearts. I think there’s a lot more we can do and I am committed to helping you. As wise and enlightened Michael Jackson says “the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way”… etc.
Anyway… here’s what I started… I’d love your thoughts!
Love,
Cristy
I invite you to dream with me.
This is about a legacy. This is about providing for the future. This is about setting us all up for success.
Time is short.
I want to invest in the future of our family… and I hope you will too. Perhaps we have a window, now, to make a major change. To change the course of some important little lives (which ultimately affects us all, for eternity, as we are one).
The vision is a homestead. A piece of property near your home in the mountains… Bravard area perhaps… where there is a future for 5 homesites. A place that each of your children could build a home or vacation cabin if/when they feel called to do so.
Dad, I thought that this would be a project right up your alley?
At this time my family and Corie’s family are very interested in living on shared land, communally, where we can be supportive with her kids, and the outdoor “farm chores” may also help them to learn the value of hard work and learn the invaluable skills necessary to survive. Growing our own food, taking care of animals, taking care of each other.
Our world is changing and I don’t want to be swept under, but I especially don’t want our nieces and nephews to be swept under. We have a relatively tiny window where these kids are able to be positively influenced and build good habits. I think that they need this to be better prepared for the future.
The dream:
Raising our animals to provide eggs, milk, meat (chickens, goats, and maybe a cow)
Growing our own vegetables.
Instilling the character-building traits of hard work, discipline, and compassionate animal care
Fresh air and space to grow and build on our dreams
Being closer to you to spend more time together and be closer to hiking, skiing, tubing, etc.
I’m hoping for each of us to build our own house, but for the property to have a shared barn.
I think Dad could really have fun with this… looking for property… being creative… and I was hoping along with being project manager, that you would maybe look at buying the land as an investment in your kid’s (and their kid’s) futures.
Dreaming,
Cristy (and Corie?!!)
